After nearly 50,000 of you have supported Compassion Over Killing’s campaign for a 100% vegan BOCA brand, parent Kraft Heinz has just debuted another fully plant-based item: a one-of-a-kind vegan turkey burger! Give thanks TODAY--and ask the brand to go animal-free for good--with a quick tweet!
Plant-based foods continue to become mainstream, but a 100% plant-based turkey burger is one we haven’t seen yet. Yet for vegans and pre-vegans alike it offers a great alternative to its cruel animal-based counterpart. Each year, 300 million turkeys are slaughtered in the US alone. But just like chickens, cows, and pigs, turkeys are intelligent and able to build relationships, as well as feel pain and fear just like us.
While many BOCA items still include cow’s milk ingredients, the food giant Kraft Heinz is starting to listen up to demands from thousands of customers, as well as icons like mom and actor Kimberly Elise, to “kraft” a better BOCA.
In 2010, in response to a COK campaign, BOCA eliminated eggs from its products. And this year, it’s been releasing more and more vegan options, such as vegan falafel bites, after hearing from thousands of you--but it has yet to cut out the cruelty altogether. Join us in saying thank you for the newest animal-free option...and asking: more, please!
