Members of the Mount Carmel Holy Rosary community:
(PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION BELOW TO DEMAND A MEETING OF PARTNERSHIP ADMINISTRATORS along with ARCHDIOCESE SUPERINTENDENT DR. McNIFF BEFORE THE ENTIRE MCHR COMMUNITY PRIOR TO THE START OF THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR.)
Would you hire someone you don't know who is hanging out in front of the Pleasant Ave bodega to care for your child(ren)? Would you leave your children alone with that person just because the counter man at the bodega says that person is highly recommended. NO! We don't leave our precious children with strangers. Why would that be any different for bringing in a new head principal of the school where your children spend most of their time away from you? Why would the partnership disrespect you like this?
The Partnership for Inner City Education is asking you to do just that. The Partnership has hired a new principal for Mount Carmel Holy Rosary without the input or communication with the parents or the greater student body. They never communicated why they would replace the current principal, Suzanne Kaszynski with a new principal with no experience as a head principal. Their replacement hails from the Success Academy regime.
( Read the New York Times articles about Success staff berating kindergartners:
By the way, the staff member in the NYT article was promoted for excellence. Now we get an excellent candidate from Success. Why are we replacing our SUCCESSful principal with a stranger who identifies with a system of education every parent should question? Why is the Partnership disrespecting our community like this?
Unlike public and charter school, this is still a parochial school with a Catholic identity. Unlike public and charter schools, when a new principal is brought in parents must have a chance to weigh in and communicate/convey their thoughts. There is a transition period. There is a committee usually made up of administrators, staff and parents. What the partnership is doing to MCHR is disrespectful.
The Partnership did this under the cover of night. They waited until classes ended and then days before July 1st (That date is a Saturday...is Ms. Smith actually going to be there? We know Principal Kaszynski would be.), the reported first day for the new principal we get an email that this is happening when they obviously chose a new principal without an input from the entire current MCHR community. This is not a public school or charter school. Many of us pay tuition, in some cases for more than one student. In joining the Partnership we were assured that we would not become or be treated like a public or charter school. We as parents, former students, grandparents, guardians, staff and other members of the larger MCHR community should not take this lying down.
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO DEMAND A MEETING OF PARTNERSHIP ADMINISTRATORS along with ARCHDIOCESE SUPERINTENDENT DR. McNIFF BEFORE THE ENTIRE MCHR COMMUNITY PRIOR TO THE START OF THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR. IN THIS MEETING WE WANT A RESOLUTION OF THE FOLLOWING ISSUES:
1) A full explanation of WHY Suzanne Kaszynski should not remain as the current principal of Mount Carmel Holy Rosary.
2) A full explanation of WHY a search process for a principal was done in SECRET without input from the entire MCHR community including tuition paying parents.
3)An agreement that this meeting take place with parents present from each grade starting from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
4)A promise from the Partnership to change their culture in how they communicate with the MCHR families.
