Boorondara Council Meeting July 13th, considers cat curfew.  The officers have written an evidence-based report showing that cat curfews are expensive failures.  But there are 11 councillors who decide.  This is the last opportunity for the public to speak.   Please cat lovers, animal lovers, can you attend Boroondara Council Meeting and register to speak for 2-3 minutes against cat curfews?  Very much needed.  Register in-person before the meeting start at 6.30pm Monday July 13, 2026. Casey Council spends an estimated $1.83million annually on 24/7 curfew.  90percent of Victoria's impounded cats are homeless, with no owner to contain or to charge.   Australian Pet Welfare Foundation Community Cat Programs reduce the number of stray cats in pounds and shelters, and free up more resources to care for and re-home dogs.  https://petwelfare.org.au/community-cat-programs

Hon Emma Hurst MLC NSW:  'Cat containment laws are simply cat killing laws ..where there's NO evidence that that's even going to work to protect wildlife.... we heard from major organizations, even WIRES, saying that actually, cats are not the biggest threat to wildlife. The biggest threats that we have to wildlife is deforestation, climate change, overdevelopment… and we know that the government needs to really take action in those spaces if they genuinely want to protect our wildlife’.  https://savecommunitycats.org/sydney-rally-23-aug-2025/#emma-hurst-animal-justice-party  Emma Hurst: https://www.instagram.com/p/DNrRy_8vz20/?hl=en&img_index=4
