Let Knox City Council know we want to keep Knox Basketball Stadium and not move to State

The issue

Save Knox Basketball Stadium in Boronia

Knox Basketball Stadium in Boronia has been the much loved stadium since 1975. It was given to the council at that time by the land owners and was stipulated that it is to be used as a sports precinct.

The stadium is home to games played by All Stars, Belgrave Red Devils, Boronia Buffaloes, Chandler Park Jets, Emerald Lakers, Ferntree Gully Falcons, Knox Cougars, KSC Phoenix, Mountain Tigers, Rangers, Saints, South East Eagles Southern Bears, Basin Wildcats, Wantirna Jetbacks, Wantirna Wasps as well as the Big V Championship series.

As reported by the Herald Sun -http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/outer-east/knox-basketball-stadium-to-be-decommissioned-as-council-looks-to-build-new-mecca/news-story/dfed473fb46b4a50c301a61b397215a3 council look to close the stadium and make the move to State Basketball Centre.

The problem with this is that it will be further for players, parents, spectators and officals to travel, at State parking and trying to exit the venue is already impossible and will be further impossible after building new courts. Knox Stadium in boronia is purpose built for hundreds and hundreds of players to utilize but State in Wantirna is often used by other sporting groups so that basketball is often put on the back foot, extended or delayed because of these other commitments so getting rid of Knox Stadium in Boronia with only put more pressure on State centre.

Let Knox council, KBI, and your local member know that we need to keep Knox Stadium at Boronia

The building has serious structural problems- There are detailed in reports at council but these have been deemed confidential by the CEO. I would love to list the problems but I can't disclose the contents without breaching the Local Government Act. The cost of remediation is $6.2m, according to the October council meeting (supplementary report). Peter Lockwood
