Support Billy GOAT Micro-Cannabis
The Issue
Owners of Billy GOAT Farms, Rochelle and Micheal Daniels, are proposing to rezone a portion of their land near the centre of their 5 acre property to build a 40x60' building for use in cannabis micro-production.
The land is located in Kneehill County which allows Micro-Cannabis as a permitted use on Light Industrial zoned land.
Cannabis micro-cultivation is classified as grow space of up to 200m² (2252ft²) by Health Canada, which will take up slightly less space than the total 40x60' building floorspace. The building will be fenced per Health Canada guidelines and the building must meet all Health Canada standards before a micro license will be granted.
As micro-cultivators or micro-processors, all goods must be sold to the AGLC or other licensed producers. No retail or public sales are permitted.
As a family business, no additional traffic is expected to site. No signage will be posted on site and no addresses will posted online for the public.
Understanding that smell is a concern for neighbours as well as for the owners who live on the property, proper HVAC ventilation systems will be put in place to mitigate the smell of fresh cannabis. Air will pass through filtration systems prior to leaving the building. Additionally, this building will not house any male plants (which carry the pollen) and so allergens will not be a concern.
Please sign this petition to show your support for this business. The Daniels are a young family who are looking to start their first business after finding success in legal personal cultivation. This would allow them to spend more time with their son and provide him with a great future. Rochelle and Micheal currently work full time as an engineer and a mechanic and will continue to do so until Billy GOAT is running successfully.
