Celebrity hot spot Kitson is a graveyard to thousands of foxes, minks, and rabbits that lost their lives for "fashion." Please let KITSON know you won't be shopping with then until they go fur free.
Fur Free LA busted Kitson for selling real fur back in January. We reported our findings to the Humane Society because it was discovered that Kitson was selling several items mislabeled as "faux fur" when they were actually made of real fur. Thanks to the Truth In Fur Labeling Act, that's against the law. Since the scandal broke, Kitson has pulled all of their fur items off of their website. If you do a search for "fur" "fox" "coyote" or "rabbit" on their website, your search will turn up with no results. Despite Kitson's weak apology for their murderous mislabeling spree they are still selling fur.
Not only are they still selling, coyote, fox, and rabbit fur, but they were still selling the SAME Street Level purse they were busted for selling as faux. I checked the tag in the bag. It said "100% Polyurethane," which is what the faux leather material is made of, but there is no mention that this bag is indeed real fur. Canine fur to be exact...
Stop Selling Fur
I understand that your stores are selling fur. I'm sure that if you knew what goes on behind the scenes in the fur industry, you would not want these cruel products to be a part of your store. Millions of animals, including rabbits, raccoons, and foxes, are painfully trapped in steel-jaw leg hold traps each year. Those who don’t freeze or starve are usually beaten to death or suffocated when the trapper arrives hours or days later. Animals held captive on fur farms spend their short lives crowded in wire cages where they suffer from inadequate water, disease, parasites, and stress. The animals are killed by anal electrocution, poisoning, or suffocation. Those who don’t die immediately are skinned alive. People assume that a scrap of fur on the collar is fake and I assure you that many would be appalled to learn that it is real. Over two million cats and dogs are killed in China for their fur. Most of Kitson's fur was made in China, and could very well come from man's best friend. Each year, more and more consumers are becoming aware of the horrors against animals done by the fur industry and have been letting companies know that they do not want any part of it. I trust that you cannot, in good conscience, support this unnecessary torture inflicted upon millions of animals each year. I hope you will decide to eliminate the sale of fur from your stores after considering this information. I will not shop at your store until you are fur free. Thank you for your time and attention.
