Kiska, Marineland Ontario's Lone Orca, needs a companion
Although not enforced in Canada, in the United States, an orca by law needs to be housed with a suitable companion in any marine park in the country. Kiska (located at Marineland, Canada) was stripped of her last companion by SeaWorld over a custody dispute in Fall of 2011. She has been alone the entire winter and is still alone. Please help Kiska get another orca (Shouka, another lone female currently in the US who also has her own petition for companionship, would be a great candidate to join Kiska), not on loan from SeaWorld or SeaWorld has rights to, from another park, or another companion such as a pacific white-sided dolphin(s). Orcas are social animals and need companionship, even in captivity.

Marineland Ontario, Canada
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Marineland Ontario, Canada.
It is to our understanding that Kiska has been alone since late fall of 2011, without any companionship of any of her kind or an suitable companion such as a dolphin. Orcas are social creatures and do not like to be alone.
We ask that Marineland's owner, Mr. John Holer, find a suitable companion for Kiska, be it another orca from a park with rights to their own orcas or that of a dolphin species, such as pacific white sided dolphins. We also ask he finds an already captive companion, not bring one in from the wild.
Although its not enforced in Canada, in the United States, by law, an orca cannot be held alone in any marine park and needs to be housed with their own species (preferably) or a suitable companion such as a dolphin. This law is in place for a reason, to ensure the best welfare and sanity of captive orcas. One orca Mr. Holer can take into consideration to bring to Canada is Shouka, a currently lone female orca at Six Flags in California.
We hope that Marineland will do what is right for Kiska and not force her to live the rest of her days alone. We ask you take her health, welfare and our neighboring country's laws into high consideration and find her a companion as soon as possible.
