Require KISD to Mandate Masks in Classrooms

Require KISD to Mandate Masks in Classrooms
The Issue
KISD is requiring masks in common areas but not in places where students can social distance, which are, for the most part, classrooms. Arlington ISD stated in a school board meeting on July 29, 2020 that they will be requiring masks in their facilities at all times once they return from remote learning. KISD should follow this example.
This is not only for the protection of students, but the protection of teachers. Kennedale has many teachers working over the age of 65, and they have a far greater mortality rate than any younger age group.
Social distancing may suffice for outdoor activities such as strength and conditioning camp, but not requiring masks within an enclosed classroom is absolutely absurd. Our health professionals have suggested we wear masks in all social settings and the state of Texas has required masks to be worn in all businesses. It just makes sense to apply this rule to schools where up to 1000 students and hundreds of faculty could be working for 8 hours a day.
