Change the child support standard in NYS

The Issue

New York State's child support standard needs to be changed. There is no difference in the percentage the non custodial parent has to pay the custodial parent based on the custody percentage. A non custodial has to pay the same percentage of their yearly gross income whether they have 0 percent or 49 percent custody of the child. There also needs to be a percentage greater than 1 percent in which a parent should be named the custodial parent. I just got ordered to pay 17 percent of my gross annual income to my sons mother because she has custody of him 20 more hours than I do per month. 20 Hours of caring for and tending to a child does not cost $583.32
