Make the Intersection of Clay & Madison a 4-Way Stop
Why this petition matters

The intersection of Clay and Madison is currently only a two-way stop. While Madison traffic has a stop sign, Clay traffic does not. This makes it very difficult for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers to cross Clay or turn left onto it. The situation is made more dangerous by the fact that the bridge obscures the view of oncoming traffic from the North, and parked cars obscure traffic from the South. As a 26-year-old able-bodied person, I've had numerous close calls both on foot and by bike here, I can only imagine this intersection is even more dangerous for children, the elderly, and those with disabilities. Adding two stop signs is about as cheap as a project gets, let's try it out, and if we don't like it, we can take them down.
Converting this intersection from the current 2-way stop to a 4-way stop would:
1) Make it safer for young children to access McEntee Memorial Park, especially from apartments across the street
2) Make an increasingly densely populated area of Kirkwood (the Barclay Condos will only add to the number of pedestrians in this area) more accessible to walkers and bikers & thus reducing traffic
3) Help to slow existing traffic in Downtown Kirkwood making for a more quaint downtown
