Almondbury Ward Cllr Candidate Robert McGuin & Bernard McGuin - Castle Hill Update

Dear supporter,
Update on the campaign to protect Castle Hill.
I am grateful to you and the 4,815 local residents who have signed our petition to protect Castle Hill from unsuitable development.
Castle Hill is not just our local landmark. It is a nationally significant archaeological site, with evidence of human activity stretching back more than 4,000 years. That is why it is legally protected as a Scheduled Monument.
That protection matters now. Before any development can proceed, the developer must obtain Scheduled Monument Consent. Specialists review the plans, the public can make representations and the Secretary of State makes the final decision.
Today, Historic England replied to my letter and confirmed that no application for Scheduled Monument Consent has been received.
This means that no work can legally start until that consent is granted.
So, let's keep up the pressure. The petition me and my dad, former Almondbury Ward Cllr Bernard McGuin, started is our proof that residents want Castle Hill protected - every signature strengthens our case.
Please continue to share the petition: https://www.change.org/p/kirklees-metropolitan-council-do-you-want-to-protect-castle-hill and share the Castle Hill clip https://www.facebook.com/reel/1787376235579688
Together, we will protect Castle Hill.
Best wishes,
Almondbury Ward Cllr Candidate Robert McGuin & Bernard McGuin
