Urge Kirklees Council to Reverse Cuts to Dewsbury Crow Nest Park Adventure Playground.

This petition is requesting that Kirklees Council continue funding Crow Nest Park Adventure Playground-the building, the site and a small team of professionally trained and experienced youth support staff. This is to facilitate volunteers and community groups to run open access play provision at the playground, therefore supporting the local community to keep this facility open.

The Adventure Playground is situated within Crow Nest Park, in the heart of Dewsbury. The Playground was opened in 2010. Since then it has welcomed thousands of children and young people through it's gates from Kirklees and further afield, many of whom subsequently volunteered at the site.

Whether a child comes to simply play, meet with friends or seek support, the enclosed nature of the site, it's location within Crow Nest Park and the visibility of staff and volunteers make the site a 'safe haven' for young people to increase their independence.

Our young people did not cause the financial crisis. Yet cuts to their services mean they will bare the brunt of it. On Tuesday 17th January the Cabinet at kirklees Council passed a decision to stop funding Crow Nest Adventure Playground. If you value our town continuing to provide our young people with a safe environment to be themselves, then please get involved with the campaign by signing and sharing this petition,

N.B. The Adventure Playgrounds flagship 'Changing Places' public toilet is one of only 2 in Dewsbury or 6 across Kirklees. Changing Places toilets are more inclusive than a regular disabled access toilet, incorporating an adjustable hoist, adult sized changing platform plus extras such as disposable gloves, waste bags and sanitizer for carers. this means those people with more complex needs can access the park for longer.
