Why this petition matters

Started by Free Loujain

Saudi Arabia arrested Loujain AlHathloul on 15 May 2018 for peacefully protesting the government’s treatment of women and advocating for women’s right to drive.

Join us in calling for Loujain’s immediate and unconditional release and demand that King Salman free Loujain today.

Loujain is a leader in the Saudi Women’s Rights movement and has been campaigning for women’s rights in Saudi Arabia since 2013. She was the first Saudi woman to stand for election in Saudi Arabia in 2015, she led the Women Drive campaign in 2013 and just before her arrest was working with other Saudi Activists to open a women’s shelter for victims of domestic violence.

In the 2 years Loujain has been in Saudi Prison, she has been tortured, sexually assaulted, placed in solitary confinement and denied access to a fair trial.

Loujain was first arrested in 2013 but continued to fight for women’s rights in Saudi Arabia even after her first arrest. In May 2018 Loujain was arrested and labeled as a traitor by the Saudi Government. Loujain was arbitrarily held for 10 months before the Saudi Government released any charges against her.

Please join the family and supporters of Loujain in standing with our calls for Loujain’s immediate and unconditional release - for Loujain’s freedom.
