Help Reduce Single-use Plastics in Saudi Arabia

It is estimated that between one to five trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year. Five trillion is almost 10 million plastic bags a minute. If tied together, they would go around the world seven times every hour and cover an area twice the size of France (UN).
Furthermore, studies suggest that plastic bags and Styrofoam containers can take up to thousands of years to decompose, contaminating soil and water, and posing significant ingestion, choking and entanglement hazards to wildlife on land and in the ocean (UN).
Following the Saudi Vision of 2030 which calls for the diversification of the economy, we call for less dependence on the production of plastics because according to the UN, “the future costs of removing all single-use plastics accumulating in the environment is estimated as higher than the costs of preventing littering today.”
We, as cocerned citizens of this great nation, consider this issue a priority and look forward to gradually reduce singe-use plastics along the proper disposal, recycling, and reusing of existing plastic waste in order to save our environment. It would be amazing if you can sign this petition and share it with others around the country so we can let everyone know that our Earth is a priority!
