Wow, over 2,000 signatures in 12 hours! What an amazing response! When I put this petition together, I had some concerns that people wouldn’t be so responsive, but this is incredible.

This petition is an excellent first step in halting the opening of the coronavirus facility, and we should expect some attention from the media and elected officials in the coming days. Please continue sharing the petition and getting signatures. However, given the extremely short timetable before the facility is set to open (less than 10 days) it’s important that we work quickly.

A great next step is to reach out to our elected officials to share our stories with them.

I also wanted to mention the event happening tonight at 7PM at 206 SW 112th Street.  I don’t know anything about it other than it’s being advertised as a march.

Finally, I just want to put in a plug for civility as we’re working together to address this situation. We have a great community here in White Center, with a lot of diverse backgrounds and viewpoints. We need to make sure we engage with each other, and with our elected officials, in a respectful way.
