In King County there has been proposed changes to business zoning in the Redmond Ridge, Redmond Ridge East, and Trilogy UPD. These changes could bring drastic changes to the types of businesses allowed in our community. Examples of potential businesses being allowed are marijuana production, processing, and retail, garbage dump, jail, adult entertainment, and Helipad. These are to name a few. County officials say it’s unlikely these types of businesses will ever happen in our community. We want more clear zoning laws that say these businesses will not be allowed. We don’t want these types of businesses around our schools and community. King County Council has continuously attempted to allow the potential for businesses in our community that are unwanted by residents. As a community, during a pandemic, this is our way of voicing our concerns and protest against the irresponsible zoning changes being proposed.
