For 43 years, Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church has leased the Ballard P-Patch ½ acre to the City of Seattle, for $1/year.  Now, faced with significant safety upgrades and renovations, they need to raise capital. The Ballard P-Patch Community has been offered the opportunity to purchase the land, and keep it in permanent conservation easement.

The Ballard P-Patch is a vibrant, well-used community asset:

• Green space for community gardens, community gatherings and educational programs.
• 1,300 pounds of organic produce donated to the Ballard Food Bank each year.
• Access by ninety families, including low income, seniors, renters, differently-abled.
• A Community Emergency Preparedness Hub.

Time is of the essence; with church construction planned for April of 2020.  A failure of the garden campaign will result in private development of the land and a permanent loss of this beloved community asset.

To save this precious green space, we the undersigned support action by the City of Seattle and King County to help provide funding for the purchase of the Ballard P-Patch land.
