I am asking Kijiji to rethink the sale of animals, specifically baby animals on their platform. 

I recently purchased a kitten off Kijiji, in the ad the kitten was listed as being eight weeks old (the minimum age a kitten should be away from its mother.) and the photo looked very healthy. 

I was asked to meet the person after dark and was told when I was en route that we would be meeting in a church parking lot. It was evident immediately that this kitten was not eight weeks old it was much too small and not the animal in the photo. 

We were told by the vet that this was probably a four or five week old kitten, it did not know how to clean itself, it could not use a litter box, it would not eat. All things a kitten should be taught to do by its mother. 

This kitten is now in the emergency vet clinic and is on an IV and oxygen. It will be immune-compromised for the rest of its life. 

By allowing the sale of animals Kijiji is enabling the inhumane practice of kitten mills and separating animals too young, who will not live healthy happy lives. 

The animal adoption process should be taken seriously, and monitored and vetted, we are dealing with living creatures. 

Kijiji is the place to find living room furniture, or a car, not for a living creature. 

If Craigslist and Marketplace have banned the sale of animals, why does Kijiji allow it?
