Kids Against Litter : We Want a Cleaner Reading!

The Issue

Petition: Clean Up Reading – We Want a Cleaner, Safer Place to Live and Play

We are children who live in Reading, and we are tired and upset about how dirty our streets, parks, and playgrounds have become.

Every day we see litter on the ground – in the parks where we play, on the pavements where we walk, and on the streets where we live. It makes us feel sad, angry, and let down. We want to be proud of where we live, but it’s hard when bins are overflowing and rubbish is left everywhere.

We believe everyone should be able to live, walk, and play in a clean and well-looked-after environment. Right now, that’s not happening.

We are asking Reading Borough Council to take urgent action by:

Installing more bins across Reading, especially in parks and near schools and playgrounds.
Making sure bins are emptied more often, so they don’t overflow and cause more mess.
Creating more litter-picking schemes, including ones that children, families and schools can get involved in.
Hiring more council workers to help keep our streets and parks clean.

We want to see a real difference. Please listen to us – we may be young, but we care deeply about our town and the environment we live in.

Let’s clean up Reading – for us, for our future, and for everyone who lives here.

Signed,
The Children of Reading
