It doesn’t have to be this way. Major companies worldwide are ditching cages, and consumer demand for cage-free eggs is growing. It’s time for Yum! Brands to stop supporting needless animal cruelty.

Yum! Brands owns a number of fast-food chains. In Aotearoa, we have KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.* It’s time for Yum! Brands to make a global commitment to remove cage eggs from all their products.

Hens used for egg production are crammed inside wire cages that do not adequately provide for their welfare. The cages are so overcrowded that hens cannot carry out many important, basic behaviours. Some hens, exhausted or unable to move, are trampled to death by their cage mates.

Almost all food companies in New Zealand have committed to ditching cage eggs from their supply chains. It’s time for KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell to do the same.
