KFC will be offering Beyond Fried Chicken in Southern California beginning Monday, July 20th! This response to a growing demand for plant-based products is a great step toward respecting animal rights and protecting the environment.

KFC has called this release at 50 SoCal locations a “sneak peek” ahead of a potential nationwide rollout. Unfortunately, unlike last year’s test in Atlanta, they will cook the plant-based chicken in the same fryers as their regular chicken.

As stated on the KFC website, Beyond Fried Chicken “is not vegan, vegetarian, or Certified Vegan” only because they are prepared in the same fryers as regular chicken. The same is true for their french fries. By preparing plant-based products this way, KFC is missing the opportunity to expand their market to include many vegan and vegetarian consumers.

While KFC has already taken major initiative to offer plant-based chicken, we are simply asking them to take one step further.

With this petition, we hope to show KFC that there is widespread support for dedicated meat-free fryers to ensure that their future nationwide rollout is suitable for everyone!
