I would like to be the voice for the animals. Firework night is very stressful for so many animals, dogs in particular suffer badly, people have to stay in the stables with their horses, cats run away, Some make it home and some never do. If only we new it was only going to be for one night, we would prepare the animal for it......but unfortunately it just goes on and on for days/weeks on end and any special event in between. People stock pile there crackers to use through the year and therefore letting them off illegally. We are the only territory/state that still has this night and I know that there are a lot of Territorians that would love to see them banned. Also my other concern is its held in the dry season and I am on a rural block like many others which gets very dry this time of year, the firies have to drive up and down all night just to protect our places from going up in smoke..... The amount of kids that go hungry, because all the pay goes on fireworks that week. Only the government/council should provide an organised firework display in the city and one in the rural area for families to attend and then it's over. No More Fireworks.
