If we can get this petition signed, we will be having 2 Norwegian ships sailing out of Los Angeles starting December 2015. The Norwegian Star currently sails seasonally out of Los Angeles to Mexico. But a second, year-round ship will be possible. The Norwegian Spirit is currently sailing year-round cruises around the Mediterranean, and will continue to sail there until October 24, 2013. Norwegian Cruise Line's newest ship, Norwegian Escape, will debut in October 2015, and will sail through the Mediterranean, taking over that route currently offered on the Norwegian Spirit. Because of this, the Norwegian Spirit will be able to depart the Mediterranean to eventually settle in Los Angeles. Norwegian Spirit can offer a transatlantic crossing from Spain to New York, and then a Panama Canal cruise from New York to Los Angeles, where it will be homeported year-round. The Norwegian Spirit will offer 7-Day cruises to Mexico along with Norwegian Star, calling at ports like Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas, and Puerto Vallarta. It will also offer a first for NCL, 7-Day California Coast roundtrips from Los Angeles, calling at ports like Santa Barbra, San Francisco, San Diego, or Ensenada. Norwegian Spirit will also be able to offer this cruise 1 time a month, a 14-Day Roundtrip Hawaii Cruise, calling at ports like Hilo, Honolulu, Maui, and Kona. All these itineraries will give southern California residents a variety of options of cruising from the West Coast with Norwegian Cruise Line.
