Sugar Gliders are a small marsupial know for making very strong bonds to humans. These small delicate animals are legal in every state but five. The reason Sugar Gliders or Petaurus breviceps are illegal to own in CA, is because the government is worried if they get loose that they will breed and infest our agriculture. My response to that is they are delicate animals, right over 4oz when fully grown, and they need specific special needs our natural environment does not provide. They would most likely die within a few days on their own let alone readily breed. On top of that, every state surrounding CA has legalised Sugar Gliders therefore if they could live in our environment, migrate to California, and take over our agriculture, they would have already. But they haven't because they are not suited for our environment. There has never been a report of escaped/released Sugar Gliders repopulating in the United States. Lastly, they aren't animals that carry many deseases that are infectious or dangerous to humans. For the love of these fascinating creatures I hope this will help to persuade you to reconsider and help end they law against Sugar Gliders. Sincerely,
