*Update*

Hello all,

First of all, thank you all for signing this petition. The amount of people in and out of the school who won't stand for racism gives me so much hope. 

The reason you are receiving this message is because I wanted to update you all on the situation today. We as a student body were notified that the students involved have been punished. Due to legal reasons, the school cannot tell us what they did to the students as they are both minors. The school recognizes the letter they sent out was not sufficient enough and is now also creating a student/staff committee to figure out how we can make such a huge culture shift in our district happen. I will be joining this committee, and I encourage any KMHS student receiving this message to do the same. I hope this committee will help create a better and safer work environment for students of any race, sexuality, gender, and ability.

On Friday, September 4th, a Kettle Moraine High School student received a disgusting racist message, reading "Black lives don't matter one bit you stupid ass *n-slur*". The school claims that they have handled the situation but is trying to protect the student that sent this message because he has scholarships.

Kettle Moraine School District, do better. You claim to have handled the situation but refuse to disclose what you have done. You claim to have handled the situation but refuse to suspend a student because he has scholarships he can't lose. By not suspending or expelling this student, you show to everyone in this district that you value this student's scholarships over the racial injustice that has happened in your schools over and over again. 

KM Students, parents, and staff, I beg you to help make a change in our school district. Everyone should feel welcome in our schools. Please sign this petition and tell the Kettle Moraine School District that we do not stand for this behavior. Change starts from within.
