Keter Preschool: Open doors at 9:20 am
The Issue
Petition to Open Keter Torah Preschool Doors at 9:20 AM
To the Administration of Keter Torah Preschool,
We, the undersigned parents of students at Keter Torah Preschool, respectfully request that the school open its doors to students at 9:20 AM, rather than 9:30 AM.
We believe that allowing children to enter the building 10 minutes earlier would create a safer, calmer, and more organized arrival process for our children, teachers, and families.
Currently, opening the doors at 9:30 AM results in a large number of children and cars arriving at the same time. This has caused the carpool line to become significantly longer than it has been in the past, creating substantial traffic and congestion around the school. Having so many children arriving simultaneously also creates unnecessary rushing and crowding, which we feel presents a safety concern.
We also respectfully ask that teachers be permitted and expected to enter the school before the children arrive, so that they are already in their classrooms and prepared to greet the students. Children should not be entering the building at the same time as their teachers. Having teachers in the classrooms ahead of time would allow for a smoother and more welcoming transition for the children.
We understand that the official school day begins at 9:30 AM. Opening the doors at 9:20 AM would not mean that the instructional day needs to begin earlier. Rather, the additional 10 minutes would allow children to enter calmly, put away their belongings, settle into the classroom, and be ready for the day’s curriculum to begin promptly at 9:30 AM.
We believe this small change would make a meaningful difference by:
● Improving the safety of student arrival
● Reducing traffic and carpool congestion
● Preventing children from having to rush into school
● Allowing children time to settle in comfortably
● Ensuring teachers are prepared in the classroom to welcome their students
● Allowing the educational program to begin promptly and calmly at 9:30 AM
We respectfully ask the administration to consider opening the school doors at 9:20 AM on a trial basis, and to evaluate the impact on traffic, safety, and the overall morning routine.
Our goal is not to change the official start time of the school day, but simply to provide our children with a safer and more organized transition into that day.
Thank you for taking the concerns of the parents and students into consideration. We hope the school will work with us to find a solution that prioritizes the safety and well-being of our children.
Respectfully,
Parents of Keter Preschool Students
