The Macedonian community of Australia are tremendously grateful and proud for the mention of Alexander the Great and his father Phillip of Macedon as being Macedonian. This happened during the opening Ceremony of the Rio Olympics 2016 when the Macedonian national team entered the arena. Although they were under incorrect alphabetical order by being forced to go under the name of FYROM, the fact that Brazil, Canada and our Channel 7 commentators acknowledged Macedonia as a nationality is overwhelming and emotional for our community....as we are not Greek, we have our own culture, music, cuisine and completely different alphabet and language. We are a small nation with a small population but we have HUGE hearts and are a PEACE LOVING people!!  WE ARE GRATEFUL TO YOU CHANNEL 7 AND ENCOURAGE YOU TO CONTINUE TO ACKNOWLEDGE US. :)
