Governments responsibility to community access to water, sanitation and health services

Governments responsibility to community access to water, sanitation and health services
The Issue
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant disruption of essential health services in Kenya. As the virus continues to spread, health resources have been heavily burdened, leaving vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women and their children, persons living with disabilities, and the soaring multitudes of persons that lost their jobs, at high risk of infection. Lack of adequate water supply and sanitation continues to expose Kenyans at county level to the virus as access to these amenities are vital in managing COVID-19.
Kenyans are worried about government preparedness to cater for their needs during these challenging times, registering insufficient to no access to water supply, quality sanitation and health care. Vulnerable groups living in marginalized areas have it worse. There exist translucent to unsubstantial communication channels between county health departments and county communities, a responsibility the local governments should heavily invest on.
Join us in demanding that the National Government, county governments, all governors, county officials and President Uhuru Kenyatta, commit to ensuring every Kenyan citizen has access to water, sanitation and proper health care during COVID-19.
