C.A.T.S. Rescue founder Renee Zaharie SHOULD NOT be allowed to take more animals !!
The Issue
On April 14, 2021 Caring About Treasured Strays rescue property in Jeffersonville, KY was raided after a warrant was obtained based on reports of animal hoarding and neglect. Law enforcement seized almost 300 dogs & cats from Renee Zaharie that were being housed in deplorable conditions. Guardians of Rescue was enlisted by law enforcement to assist; this organization worked with several rescue groups to secure safe extraction and placement of the animals for the duration of the case as Renee Zaharie refused to surrender them. Many puppies and cats/kittens were in need of emergent medical attention and were immediately rushed to the nearest vet hospital. Most to all of the cats suffered respiratory ailments, FIV, feline leukemia, severe skin infections and pan leukopenia. Ms. Zaharie was unable to provide any vetting histories on any of the animals, yet she runs a spay/neuter clinic and claims to provide age appropriate vetting. Caring About Treasured Strays has claimed to have transported hundreds of animals to their New Jersey “arm” rescue called Furry Treasures - Woofs and Purrs where dogs and cats are adopted out for hundreds of dollars. Many adopters have reported receiving sick animals.
Within hours of her arrest, Renee Zaharie was taking in more animals to flip for profit denying any wrong doing. Currently, there is no injunction in place to prevent her from taking in more animals. Hoarders hoard and this is evident in her rapid re-collection of animals despite her pending arraignment on animal cruelty charges. The county prosecutor is presenting a motion seeking an injunction to prohibit Renee Zaharie from bringing more animals into her rescue. We need your support to let the court and officials know she should not be allowed to have any living creature in her care and that her 501c3 status should be revolked and Caring About Treasured Strays shut down. Please let your voice be heard for these innocent animal victims. Hold Renee Zaharie accountable...Let justice be served for the animals removed from the horrid conditions they were found in on April 14. Let the pictures help you decide. This a NOT how rescue should operate. Please help prevent the same fate from happening to other innocent animals she collects... They cannot speak for themselves!! Thank you!
