Over a month ago, my 2 year old bullmastiff puppy, Rhaegar, died while under the care of Canine Unleashed owned by Tommy Dillon. He died of heat stroke due to a lack of water and adequate shade on an extraordinarily hot day. This is the definition of animal cruelty in the 2nd degree under Kentucky statute 525.130. Unfortunately this crime is only classified as a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $500 fine. This is laughable. The purpose of this petition is to urge our government to increase the penalty to a Class D felony punishable by 1 to 5 years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine. This hopefully will spare any other family from the pain and suffering mine has endured
