Lets take POLITICS out of deciding what history is acceptable and what must be cart away!
The Issue
Lets take POLITICS out of deciding what history is acceptable and what needs be carted away in KY. What is acceptable today may not be politically expedient tomorrow. As the politically correct winds change, so does the measure of what is historically acceptable...
The current Division of Historic Properties has shown itself as a tool, group of "Yes SIr!" order followers. It swings to the political pressures applied by which ever Governor, or party, is in power. One day he says something has to go, 3 days later they vote as he wishes...
The "vote" of the Historical Properties Advisory Committee on June 12, 2020 was an outright joke! The heavy machinery and manpower to move that statue from the Capital Building was already on site, set up, and in action before the vote was completed! Leaked information supports the claim that the contract to move the statue was in place days before the vote. The "vote" was a political motivated show, the actions were already under way!
Let the citizens of Kentucky save TAX DOLLARS by DEFUNDING and ABOLISHING the Division of Historic Properties! The funds saved could be put to use helping the citizens of the Commonwealth, helping to offset the pension deficits or to help dig Kentucky out of the financial hole we are wallowing in.
Furthermore, by liquidating all the Historic Properties "overseen" by this Division of Historic Properties Yes Men, millions of dollars could be generated that could also be used to balance the budget and help the struggling citizenry of Kentucky!
Sell these artifacts and properties to the public and get the government out of picking and choosing which bits of history are acceptable and which can be turned into cushy offices...
Kentucky does NOT need, nor can we afford, an Orwellian Ministry of Truth that "fixes" history for their own political ends and friends.... When the political winds change, so does the action or inaction of this division.
What will they put on the chopping block next?
Vietnam Veterans Memorials?
Persian Gulf Memorials?
Police Memorials?
NOTHING IS SAFE!
