Blue and Amber Lights for Tow trucks Ontario

Ontario recently added to their Highway Traffic Act on July 1st, 2018, (Ontario HTA Section 14.1 and 14.2) to allow all emergency vehicles (Ambulance, Fire Apparatus, etc) to operate blue flashing lights in combination with red. Ontario conducted studies stating that blue lights are more visible in the dark, low visibility conditions such as snow, fog and heavy rain as well as longer visual distances. I imagine Ontario will be implemented blue lights for tow trucks/service vehicles for the exact same reason.

Ontario's “move over” law requires drivers to slow down and proceed with caution when passing an emergency vehicle that is parked on the side of the highway with flashing lights. Emergency vehicles include police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, public utility vehicles and tow trucks.

On Nov 7 2019 Our industry lost a fellow Tow truck operator, Just north of Oshawa He was serving a customer when a car collided taking his life, we need to protect our industry and safety of our drivers and workers, We have families too, bring on the blue lights to save our lives.

We need your help to make this change happen! We are looking to gather as many signatures as we can from all emergency services personnel from all background to allow Tow Trucks to be including in the emergency vehicles that can operate blue flashing lights in combination with the current Amber lights being utilized now.
