Race and Diversity Training for KUSD Teachers

Race and Diversity Training for KUSD Teachers
Why this petition matters
In lieu of recent events, involving the George Floyd murder. It has become apparent that many of the people we believed were allies to black students, are not. Particularly the teachers of Kenosha Unified School District. Teachers are one of the most essential and underrated workers in our country—and their impact on students is crucial. When a black man is murdered we witness our own teachers calling protesters "thugs" and "savages" the trusting relationship between students of color and their teachers is lost. This is why we need to ensure that the men and women who influence, and communicate with students are equipped to do their jobs as efficiently as possible. KUSD disservices their students of color through the lack of representation and failing to enforce diversity training for their employees. This petition calls for the mandatory Race and Diversity training for all teachers in the Kenosha Unified School District and a call for more men and women of color to be hired in the district.
