There have been far too many fatalities at the Leadburn Junction in recent years with families losing loved ones in devastating circumstances. 

We believe that many of these fatalities could have been avoidable if proper safety measures had been in place.

We are calling on Kenneth Lawrie, Chief Executive of Midlothian Council to install a roundabout at the junction as a matter of urgency in order to vastly improve the safety for motorists at this junction which has become far too notorious for accidents.

Locals and political representatives alike have requested a roundabout for years, but Midlothian Council, who are responsible for the land surrounding the junction itself and nearby have yet to act on these calls.

With a loud voice from the community, we hope that Midlothian Council will install a roundabout as a matter of urgency in this area where there are almost daily incidents.

Midlothian Council should be treating the safety of motorists as absolutely paramount and if they don't implement safety measures soon, sadly the situation is only likely to get worse.

The time is long overdue to install a roundabout at Leadburn Junction.
