Against the residential development at Middlerigg Farm, Reddingmuirhead
The Issue
We urge you to support our petition to oppose the Application to Falkirk Council on 6/3/19 No. P/19/0125/PPP for Development of Land for Residential Use with Associated Open Space, Site Development Works and Landscaping. Middlerigg Farm, Reddingmuirhead, Falkirk, by Taylor Wimpey
This proposed development of 200 houses is not included in Falkirk Council Local Development plan and it will not only have a devastating effect on Reddingmuirhead but also the surrounding areas.
The schools - Wallacestone and Shieldhill Primary along with Braes High School will have increased class sizes to accommodate the children of the new houses, traffic will increase particularly around schools in the morning and afternoon.
Doctors and Dentist surgeries will struggle to cope with 400+ additional patients meaning longer waiting times for appointments for everyone in the area.
Parking at Polmont train station will be effected with potential numerous commuters attempting to park each morning, the available car parks are full at 8am on a week day and commuters park in surrounding areas causing significant congestion.
Increased traffic in the area as a whole. The developers estimate based on 1.28 cars per household is that there would be 643 movements in and out of Fairhaven Terrace per day, not a feasible option given the junction with B810, Shieldhill Road were traffic was recorded on a traffic survey as travelling at an average speed of 38.2mph in a 30 mile per hour limit.
Reddingmuirhead area has seen a huge number of houses built in the past years with no improvements to the infrastructure.
Coal Board Authority report states that the site lies within an area defined as a “Development High Risk Area”, which means that the area includes one or more coal mining related features which have the potential for instability or a degree of risk to the surface from old coal mining operations. The Coal Authority also indicates the potential for a sudden collapse of shafts, resulting in the generation of a crown hole and also subsidence craters which are considered to be Very High where mine entries lie within the boundaries of the site. This could have an effect on the adjacent houses and surrounding area.
We are asking that the above mentioned development is refused planning permission.
