This is a petition to change how the use of commons swipes are regulated. As a student myself, I pay thousands of dollars at a time to have my commons swipes. On top of that, Kennesaw mandates more than I can actually use. To offset this problem, students swipe their friends in so that the swipes don't go to waste. Even if we can't find a friend to swipe in, there is always the hungry, less fortunate student or adult we can provide a meal for. Recently, Kennesaw State changed their policy to where we CANNOT swipe our friends in and I think that is unfair and unjust. I believe that as a student paying hard earned money for my swipes, I should get to choose how I want to allocate the use of my swipes. With all that being said, Kennesaw State's current rule is you can only swipe yourself into the commons once every 30 minutes. Even if we could swipe a friend in, who would want to wait outside for 30 minutes for the clock to reset? I believe there should be no regulation on the use of our swipes or the time limits in between them. Hopefully this petition will shed light on the dictatorial role Kennesaw State plays in the manipulation of the commons swipes. I was also just informed that first year students are limited to how many swipes they can use a week and I believe this is an area of concern as well. No college students can survive on 7 or 10 swipes a week. That isn't even 2 a day.
