Mrs. Poppe was a role model, community leader, and terrific principal for 24 years. Besides putting smiles on tens of thousands of faces, she embodied the spirit we all share as a school and community. Even though she has passed, the countless stories and memories she has created will never be forgotten. I propose that Town Bagel in Bellmore rename their poppy seed bagels as "Lorraine Poppe seed bagels". This is done to honor her fantastic life and devotion to Kennedy and Bellmore-Merrick. Many of the customers at Town Bagel are family of, graduated from, or attend Kennedy High School.
