We, the undersigned residents and concerned members of the community surrounding Plovers Rise Playing Field, respectfully call upon our local authorities to implement a ban on fireworks that produce loud bangs within this specific location. We wish to clarify that our goal is not to banish fireworks altogether; rather, we ask that only ‘low noise’ or ‘silent’ fireworks be permitted for events held on the playing field.

The impact of loud fireworks is notably distressing for animals in our community. Pets often experience heightened levels of anxiety and fear, and in extreme cases, some go missing as they attempt to escape the noise. This causes considerable stress and worry for their owners.

Additionally, the loud explosions adversely affect individuals with nervous dispositions, including young children and the elderly. Such loud noises can exacerbate anxiety, disturb sleep, and have a negative effect on mental well-being.

Therefore, we kindly request our local council to amend any bylaws, or introduce new legislation, to restrict the use of noisy fireworks on Plovers Rise Playing Field. We advocate for the usage of ‘silent’ or ‘low noise’ fireworks for community events that involve pyrotechnic displays.
