Currently in Sunway University and College, there have been multiple Covid-19 cases. There have been 5 confirmed covid cases that were spread from a cheerleading meeting on the 15th of April 2021. This affects the students and the faculty that are required to be on campus for lessons.

Covid-19 clusters, as defined in Malaysia, can be as small as two people — comprising the index case, the person first discovered with the virus in an outbreak, and close contact. As the 5 confirmed cases can be considered as close contact, Sunway campus can be considered as a cluster. There has not been any information given as to the number of infected cases from the campus and how far it has spread by the school.

I made this petition in hopes of temporarily closing down our campus to prevent further spread and for the safety of the students and the faculty. This petition is directed to Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) to give instruction for a campus closure and to Sunway Education Group to close the campus and have all classes and activities online for everyone's safety. Many of us students and faculty have high-risk people at home and want to prevent any risk of infecting them. I hope as soon as the cases have been identified that we, students, can be allowed to return to campus to continue our studies with the facilities and following the SOP.
