Kelmarna Community Gardens have raised three beautiful Hereford steers over the last two years. These wonderful pets have become a community favorite with visitors to the gardens who have enjoyed their loving and calm company. Unfortunately a decision has been made by the Kelmarna Gardens to send these pet steers to slaughter to be turned into meat packs. These three loving boys need your help! We have less than 24 hours! Please let Kelmarna gardens know that you don't support the slaughter of these three steers.

There has been a large social media outcry already, with many people recognizing the sentience of these beautiful beings. In addition to valuing their individuality , saving these steers has other benefits. Having animals in a city area allows children and adults alike to take time to reconnect with nature. It is well known that these kind of experiences are important to develop our capacity for empathy toward animals and others. The animals should remain as pets at Kelmarna gardens of be allowed to be rehomed to a safe sanctuary. They offer much more love and life while they are breathing. These soulful eyes can bring happiness and a feeling of well-being.
