UPDATE: Our Hearts Are With You, Kelly

We were heartbroken to learn of the passing of Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s former husband and the father of her children. We cannot imagine the grief she and her family are experiencing, and we want to express our deepest condolences.

As parents ourselves, we understand how profoundly loss reshapes everything. Our intention with this petition has always been grounded in kindness, respect, and shared experience — and that hasn’t changed. But we also recognize that now is a time for mourning, healing, and privacy.

It’s unclear whether Kelly will return for her November concerts at Caesar’s Palace — and that’s completely understandable. We still plan to be in Las Vegas during that time for our community meetup, but we want to be very clear: there is no pressure, no timeline, and nothing but love.

And if Kelly ever wants to have this conversation — at another time, in another place, virtually or in person — we’ll make it happen. No expectations. Just openness.

THE ORIGINAL PETITION

Kelly Clarkson’s honesty about using a medication to support her health inspired millions of us. Now we’re asking her to continue that conversation by sitting down for a real, stigma-free interview with The Downsized.

Kelly recently shared that she was prediabetic, had thyroid challenges, and resisted prescription medication for two years before she started. That story is powerful. And it mirrors what so many of us have experienced.

We are Christopher and Laraine Durham, a married couple of 22 years who have lost over 150 pounds together using GLP-1 medications. We host The Downsized, a YouTube channel and community focused on supporting people who are using GLP-1s to treat obesity, reclaim their health, and live without shame.

We know that obesity is a disease. More than 74 percent of American adults live with overweight or obesity. But weight stigma keeps far too many people silent. Kelly’s voice could help change that again.

We will be in Las Vegas on November 14 and 15 to see Kelly perform at Caesars Palace. We have secured access to a professional podcast studio and would love to sit down with her. We will make it easy and respectful. This is about creating space for an honest, empowering conversation that could help countless people.

If Kelly shares more of her story, it could help someone take the first step toward their health. Let’s show her how much this matters.

Why is this important?

Obesity is a chronic disease, and it affects the majority of adults in the United States. Yet many people still don’t feel safe talking about it—especially when it comes to medical treatment.

Medications such as tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) and semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) have given patients new hope. They’re not quick fixes or weight-loss fads. They are real tools to help treat a complex disease that has often been ignored or misunderstood.

When someone like Kelly Clarkson shares her story, it helps others feel seen. It opens the door for people to ask questions, seek support, and take action for their health.

Kelly’s story is about strength, courage, and choosing health—even when it’s scary. If she shares more, it could help break down barriers for millions of others.

Let’s invite her to do just that.
