I want to thank everyone who took the time to sign the petition.  When I started this I expected many more signatures than what we have. I did not realize how many signatures it would take to have a referendum place on the ballot. Turns out it's something like 740,000 and I don’t think that’s going to happen. However, it has brought 3,100 people together who care and want to see a permanent end to these polluted summers. I still believe this is very much a political issue. The current administration has been hell bent on dismantling the very policies and agencies that we need to prevent this from happening. At the federal level Trump has done everything but eliminate the EPA, here in Florida Rick Scott has done the same with the DEP and other agencies tasked with environmental protection enforcement. So many people here in Florida still do not grasp the extent and scope of what is occurring and why. This is why I want to start a billboard advertisement campaign aimed at informing and educating more fellow Floridians of what is at stake.
