Reinstate London-Tunis Flights

The Issue

British Airways is suspending all flights to Tunis from October 25 2013. The only other scheduled carrier to fly from London to Tunis directly is Tunisair which operates five times per week from Heathrow.

The airline said in a statement: "The flights are being suspended because they don't make a profitable contribution to our business. We are always reviewing our route network to ensure it is in line with the needs of our customers."

Travellers between Tunis and London including thousands of Tunisian/British expats as well as tourists and passengers with business interest in Tunisia are being seriously affected by this decision. Prices will inevitably continue to soar as a consequence, passengers are left with a single carrier choice namely TunisAir which does not necessarily meet customers' expectations in terms of flight schedule/times, route, prices and quality of service.

With almost all BA flights we have been to being full, it is non-understandable how they can be non-profitable. Couldn't BA partly suspend some of its flights rather than completely and permanently suspend the whole route?

We strongly demand that British Airways reviews its decision and re-instates the Gatwick-Tunis route either partly or fully as soon as possible. This is the only way to meet the needs of its customers as per BA's statement above.

Kind regards
