We the students do not want to see our outdoor recreation complex demolished!

We feel:

• We were not well informed of the plans to demolish Broward Rec and never had an opportunity to speak for or against it, as the students who love and live here.
• Broward Rec is a place where many form their first bonds with friends. RAs, clubs and organizations, and like minded people find the space really valuable for hosting events to build community for all.
• We are in the midst of a global pandemic and many are still uncomfortable with working out in an indoor gym. This is the only alternative available on campus. Closing this now would leave those students with no other option for comfortable and safe recreation.

We demand that:

• The current recreation center not be closed until there is a new fully functioning one to replace it.
  It must be on East campus where the majority of student residents halls are.
• The construction plans be postponed until at least 2 of the campus construction projects in the area are completed.
  Residents in the Beaty/Jennings area and more are already severely inconvenienced by the construction which blocks Museum road and makes the campus less navigable for all

The multiple construction projects on campus deplete the overall campus experience and make the campus feel more like a construction zone than a home!
