The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) promised former residents of Harold L. Ickes Homes affordable housing over 15 years ago. Nothing has happened since the 2009 original CHA promise, and the community has remained displaced. Recently, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and CHA have proposed building a high school on the land promised to the Ickes residents over a decade ago. The residency had over 1,008 units of public housing. CHA was developed to help those in need, and they should keep their promise! Housing is a human right!
