West Cliff Drive is a special part of Santa Cruz. It provides stunning views, is a great place to take a drive, walk, or bike ride, and is the best way to go back and forth from Natural Bridges State Park to Cowells Beach. This road is part of Santa Cruz's culture and one of the things that makes Santa Cruz unique. Very few places in the world have such an amazing public road. West Cliff Drive has been eroding as long as it has been in place and has been repaired to maintain its grace. The new erosion in 2023 and 2024 should be repaired and shouldn't be used as a reason to change the usage. There is plenty of room for pedestrians, bicyclists, and cars. There is no reason to restrict cars. Reducing traffic to one-way or restricting traffic altogether will negatively change what we love about West Cliff, pushing heavy traffic into the neighborhoods and limiting access to the coast. Please join the Surfers and the Santa Cruz Board Riders Club and sign this petition to keep West Cliff Drive a two-way road, so we don't lose this part of our culture.
