Keep Waco Charter School OPEN!

Keep Waco Charter School OPEN!
The Issue
On February 28, 2023 The Waco Tribune-Herald Newspaper release the news of Waco charter school closing its doors at the end of the current school year. After the Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation (EOAC) Board of Directors made the decision behind closed doors.
As a parent of a current enrolled student I was shocked to learned about this decision from the local newspaper and not directly from the School Board of Directors. I am still trying to comprehend why the Board will do such thing and release this sensitive life altering decision to the public first instead of those primary affected by their decision. Because it was "THEIR VOTE" deciding for all of us. The Board failed to notify all affected parties of their intentions prior to reaching their final decision. They shut our voice before we even had an opportunity, the opportunity to find a way to save our beloved school. They failed to see beyond the dollar signs and obviously failed to see the greatness behind Waco Charter School.
My son is proof of the excellence in education that Waco Charter School offers. But it goes beyond education, they are family. The principal and staff have created an irreplaceable learning environment for the students. The focused attention that every students receives cannot be compared elsewhere. This is possible by WCS small class sizes with 20 students max per class. The principal and staff take it upon themselves to make a positive impact in the lives of the students. They are equipped and overly qualified to meet the learning needs of each student. I am witness to their dedication and teaching enthusiasm through my son who adores WCS and has been adversely affected by the unforeseen decision.
The EOAC Board of Directors believe that it will be an easy transition for the students, parents, and school staff but they are not in our shoes. They have no idea of what they are doing to all the devoted teachers by displacing them of the place where they practice what they know and love to do best, teach. They do not feel the anxiety and fear of the unknown that they have brought upon the students and us parents. And they definitely did not care to even notify all of us in a decent manner, and no the notification letter sent with the students a whole day after the fact is not acceptable.
The EOAC Board of Directors would have considered an alternative option other than closing Waco Charter School if they really knew what WCS means to all of us. I know that there is many of us eager to speak on behalf of Waco Charter School and the goodness it contributes to the community. I would like for all of us to come together in support of our beloved Waco Charter School in hopes to present this to the EOAC Board of Directors meeting on March 27,2023. As you can tell, we do not have much time but I promised to give us (school staff, parents, students, and community) a voice. It takes a village and we are that for Waco Charter School!
The 26 years of education commitment that the school has cannot simply be erased. I hope that the decision of closing Waco Charter School is overturn by the support it receives and that the EOAC Board of Directors realize that they have to fight harder for its students and try to figure out an alternative solution because closing the school is not good enough.
Please help us achieve this, and in advance thank you for your support which I know will be heaven sent to all of us.
