Feb 24, 2025

We hope as many of you as possible can view the February 25, 2025 Glendale City Council Workshop, which begins at 12:30pm at Glendale Civic Center, as the fate of Velma Teague Library will be discussed.  The workshop can be viewed on the City of Glendale's YouTube channel.                                                                                  Agenda link:  2.25.2025 City Council Workshop Agenda

As you will see on the agenda link above, the library will be discussed in 2 parts during the workshop with each having a PowerPoint presentation. First up on the agenda will be:
ITEM #4 ~ COUNCIL ITEM OF SPECIAL INTEREST - VELMA TEAGUE LIBRARY
Presented by: Kimberly Hall, Director, Community Services                                          Item #4 PowerPoint presentation

It will be followed by:
ITEM #5 ~ COUNCIL ITEM OF SPECIAL INTEREST - VELMA TEAGUE LIBRARY RELOCATION
Presented by: Kimberly Hall, Director, Community Services                                        Item #5 PowerPoint Presentation

Each of the PowerPoint presentations clearly outlines the actions and items that will be discussed and at the end of both Item #s 4 & 5, the city council members will be asked for their consensus as to their decisions on the future of Velma Teague Library. Item #5 should be paid close attention to because it's purpose is to allow new councilmembers an opportunity to review and discuss Velma Teague Library Relocation and to review all options. The options that are being given regarding Velma Teague Library are:

– Do nothing.
– Remodel in place.
– Reconstruct elsewhere in the park.
– Relocate to the Promenade On Palmaire or another space.

Please be aware that while citizens may attend any City Council Workshop, they are not allowed to speak or give an opinion on any actions, statements, or consensus.      If anyone wishes to express concerns about actions taken during the workshop regarding Velma Teague Library they must attend the 2.25.2025 City Council Meeting which begins at 5:30pm at Glendale Civic Center, 5750 W Glenn Drive, Glendale, AZ 85301 and fill out a blue speaker card prior to the beginning of the meeting in order to speak during the Citizens Comments portion of the meeting. Citizens comments are limited to 3 minutes.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support and desire to keep Velma Teague Library IN Murphy Park. Our voices must continue to be one and we must remain ever vigilant.

Sincerely,

Kathy & Rory Goreé
