PRESS CONFERENCE: COMMUNITY-LED EFFORT TO SAVE VELMA TEAGUE LIBRARY
Glendale, AZ – The Glendale community is rallying together to save the historic Velma Teague Library, and residents are invited to join a press conference on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 12pm at Murphy Park. This event will provide an update on the library's future and the steps being taken to preserve this vital landmark.

Led by passionate community advocates, this grassroots effort has galvanized residents who believe in protecting Glendale’s history and ensuring access to valuable public resources. Councilmember Lupe Conchas will attend the event to provide remarks and support the community's mission to save the library.

“Our community has shown incredible strength and determination in this effort,” said Councilmember Conchas. “The Velma Teague Library represents so much more than books—it’s a space for connection, learning, and history. I am proud to stand with the residents of Glendale as we fight to protect it.”

While the Glendale City Council has paused any plans that could lead to the library's demolition, the future of Velma Teague remains uncertain. Community leaders and advocates will speak at the press conference to share updates, next steps, and the importance of continued advocacy.
