The Issue

For many years, Trelill Court Resource Centre in Bodmin has been a cornerstone of our community, providing essential mental health support and well-being services to those who need it most. I have had the privilege of being a service user, and I can personally attest to the immeasurable impact it has had on my life. At Trelill Court, I found a safe haven where I could unwind, offload, and feel genuinely supported in a nurturing environment.

The centre, which has been part of the Bodmin community since 1987, transitioned to a charity-based establishment in 1997. It offers an array of group settings, including cooking, craft, and art classes, which have enriched my life with new skills and friendships. The amazing staff at Trelill are nothing short of incredible, showing unparalleled understanding and patience to each of us who walks through its doors.

However, this vital facility is facing the threat of closure on the 31st of March, 2026. The news of this impending closure, delivered on the 4th of February, has left us in shock and distress. Not only Trelill Court, but the other mental health facility in North Cornwall is also at risk, which would leave an enormous void in mental health services in our region.

Trelill Court still has a year's lease left on the building. We need to act now to persuade the local authorities and stakeholders to reconsider this decision and find sustainable solutions to keep Trelill Court open. Options could include exploring alternative funding sources, securing extended leases, or re-evaluating current expenditure to prioritize this life-changing community resource.

The loss of Trelill Court would be devastating not only for current users but for future generations who would miss out on the opportunity to access the support network it provides. We must unite as a community to save this cherished resource. Please help us ensure that Trelill continues to be a sanctuary for those in need.

By signing this petition, you are not only supporting Trelill Court but advocating for better mental health facilities throughout Bodmin and North Cornwall. Let us come together to fight for our mental health resources and preserve this essential part of our community. Please sign and share this petition with your friends, family, and networks.
